Overview of Clinical Services

Youth Health Associates is the largest and most respected clinical service provider in the State of Utah. We provide high-quality therapeutic and reliable residential care services for male and female adolescents with sexual behavior problems. You’ll appreciate YHA’s Continuum of Care which offers placement within our six different residential homes located in Northern, Central and Southern Utah. Additionally, we provide multiple “step-down” facilities for our residents graduating higher levels of care and in need of proctor placement and independent-living services. Those referring to YHA have the satisfaction of knowing that our residents will receive both practical and dependable clinical services for promoting a healthy life.

One of the many advantages of having such a comprehensive Continuum of Care is that YHA is able to place a high emphasis on family therapy, visits, and reunification regardless of family location. This is of particular importance to both our residents and referral sources, because we understand and promote the tremendous value of family support throughout the course of treatment. This exclusive feature of our clinical services has led to dramatic differences in treatment duration of our residents. Due to the clinical breakthroughs associated with addressing family dynamics, as well as the residents’ sexual behavior issues, YHA has demonstrated empirical evidence of treatment durations well below the national average of 18 months.

The Therapeutic Relationship

As we discuss the benefits of our clinical services in light of client motivation and, in turn, client motivation in light of the therapeutic relationship, it is worth reminding our referral sources about the therapeutic working alliance. The importance of the therapeutic relationship cannot be overstated. From within this alliance, client motivation is most likely to peak and client participation is likely to be the greatest.

YHA believes that all forms of therapy take place within the context of the therapeutic relationship. This relationship and working alliance with our clinical team can be characterized in terms of the emotional bonds of the therapeutic relationship, treatment goals shared by both therapist and youth, and the collaboration in developing tasks of treatment. The therapeutic assignments provided by all YHA therapists are most likely to be effective, and most effectively used, not only when embedded within a larger treatment model, but withing a supportive therapeutic relationship. Our clinical professionals recognize the important and essential elements for the development of a solid therapeutic alliance. They also recognize that implementing these elements into treatment is likely to enhance, support, and make all treatment more effective.
